Karen Kuter is the owner of Kuter Environmental Health & Safety Consulting, LLC. The company provides a practical approach to managing EHS needs for laboratory environments. Prior to founding her company, Karen worked as Senior Environmental Health and Safety Manager at Seattle BioMed, an infectious disease research institute. In that role, she gained considerable expertise in biological safety as well as chemical, radiological and physical hazard control.
Karen also served for 5 years as President of the Northwest Health, Environmental and Laboratory Professionals (NWHELP) group whose focus is to foster communication among local EHS professionals and provide ongoing education to its members.
She is a University of Washington Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences alumna and has continued to stay involved in the university community by providing mentorship, internships and participation in continuing education training activities.
In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor adventures including downhill skiing and mountain biking. But don’t worry; she always wears her helmet to be safe!
